featured minnesota Iron woman: Fio Ricci
Part of my mission is to highlight the work, ethic, and courage of women of the Iron Range of current and past. The first ever featured "Minnesota Iron Woman" is Fio Ricci of Hibbing. She is 91 years young and a community icon of Hibbing.
I chose Fio Ricci because I have seen her hard work and dedication for years at local Catholic Churches. In particular, she is legendary at Blessed Sacrament for her spunk, attitude, and hard work.
She has taught cooking classes at Ironworld Discovery Center, privately to individuals and for years she has volunteered at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. She made sure to tell me, "I’m not a professional teacher or cook — I just do it my way." It is this spunk that has made Fio Ricci a community icon and the first named "Minnesota Iron Woman." She will be featured in my first documentary film entitled, "CCW: Catholic Cooking Women."
