DRAFT ADAPTATION OF THE EUROPEAN NETWORK GUIDELINES FOR WORKING RESPONSIBLY WITH PERPETRATORS OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE DURING THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC FOR CONSIDERATION BY UNITED STATES PERPETRATOR PROGRAMS

Melissa Pertangelo Scaia and Jon Heath consulted with victims of domestic violence, advocates, and leaders in the field of domestic violence perpetrator programming to write, "Draft Adaptation of the European Network Guidelines for Working Responsibly with Perpetrators of Domestic Violence during the COVID-19 Pandemic for Consideration for United States Perpetrator Programs.  Click here to view the document.

pATHWAYS TO FAMILY PEACE

Pathways to Family Peace is a men's non-violence domestic violence program.  Pathways to Family Peace is participating in a national pilot project to conduct a men's non-violence batterer's intervention program using videoconference technology.  

​The pilot project will be co-facilitated by Melissa Petrangelo Scaia of Minnesota and Jon Heath of Maine.

This "live" video-conference men's non-violence program option for court ordered domestic violence groups is now available and taking referrals.  Pathways to Family Peace uses the Duluth Model's "Creating a Process of Change for Men Who Batter" curricula and the addendum curricula entitled "Addressing Fatherhood with Men Who Batter" (Scaia, Connelly & Downing, 2007).

FOCUS of Videoconference Men's Program of Pathways to Family Peace:  Intimate Partner Adult Relationships and Parenting

REQUIREMENTS:  
* one intake assessment
* 27 session program
* 90 minutes per session
* Requires participants to be available and participate at a predetermined day and time each week
* Requires active participation
* Wi-Fi / Ethernet / Cable internet connection / Participants cannot use cellular data to participate

FEES:
* Sliding fee scale
* Intake assessment fee:  $25
* $10 per session for unemployed participants
* $15 per session for part-time employed  and seasonally employed participants
* $20 per session for employed participants
* Ability to pay via debit or credit card through PayPal or an app such an Venmo or the Cash App

PROGRAMMING
*Co-facilitated by a male / female co-facilitator team
* Addresses intimate partner relationships and parenting
* Engages men's in a dialogical self-reflective process
* Makes it easier for men from any location to attend a court ordered class

Pathways to Family Peace is NOT:
* A self-paced educational course
* A pre-packaged on-line "educational module" program
* A pass/fail course

Technology and format requirements:
* Webcam that allows for "live" participation
* Reliable internet connection for video and audio.  Participants CANNOT use cellular data to connect.
* A confidential physical space where participants have no one else in sight or sound of them and with no interruption.  Participants cannot be outdoors when connecting or riding or driving in a vehicle.
* Use of headphones with a microphone.
